Free play mode allows you to access a wide variety of attractions and build without restrictions. Game mode will put your problem-solving skills to the test with constant challenges. From the Manufacturer --------------------- Design, build, and manage your own LEGOLAND Park on your computer, using elements from LEGO SYSTEM themes: Western, Adventurers, and Castle. Free-play mode allows you to build freely with access to a wide variety of attractions. Game mode poses a slightly different challenge in that your park's success relies totally on the actions you take. Make your park a success and you'll receive rewards and surprises, including special park attractions and the famous Minilands. Review ------ If your kids have the patience to complete the lengthy tutorial, they'll have lots of success and enjoyment with LEGOLAND. Starting with a plot of land, children use a stock supply of rides and exhibits to design their own virtual 3D theme park. All of these attractions are based on real theme parks, including LEGOLAND in California. Children can freely construct their own park by choosing from food kiosks, restaurants, rides, greenery and staff, or they can choose to play through the program's progressively more difficult level system. To progress through each level, all of the rides must be built, the greenery must be varied and plentiful, and the money must be flowing in. An inspector periodically checks kids' progress, letting them know, for instance, whether the shrubs and other s are adequate, or if an appropriate number of food concessions are available relative to the park's size. Successes in the level system are rewarded with new park themes like Wild West or Castle. (These special parks can also be accessed in the "Freeplay" mode.) Once children understand what to do, the creation of each park is very doable. While kid testers felt that the tutorial was overkill, and sometimes surprisingly unhelpful, they also appreciated the challenges of new levels that came with their successes. All things considered, the program offers a creative and fun problem solving experience.
